All she wants for Christmas is a do-over! Mariah Carey suffered through one of the most embarrassing moments of her career last New Year’s Eve when a technical difficulty prevented her from giving her best performance at the 2017 Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest. But now she’s getting a second chance to reclaim her crown as the Queen of Christmas because she has been invited back to perform again this year!

“We can all agree that last year didn’t go exactly as planned and we are thrilled to move forward together to provide America with an incredible night of music and celebration on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018. See you in Times Square!” read a joint statement obtained by the Associated Press. Mariah took to social media after the news broke, sharing a promotional photo with her fans and writing, “Take 2” in the caption.

Last year, the 47-year-old pop diva took the stage and she immediately realized that something was wrong with her in-ear monitor and it ruined her performance of her 1991 hit song “Emotions.” It seemed like production was able to fix the situation by the time she performed her next song, her 2005 hit “We Belong Together,” but instead of playing the track version, someone played the album version of the song and fans accused Mariah of lip-syncing.

“There was a production issue and technical difficulties,” a rep for Mariah said in a statement obtained by Us Weekly at the time. “There, unfortunately, was nothing she could do to continue with the performance given the circumstances.”

But even though she seemed visibly upset onstage, Mariah was able to shake it off and she took to Twitter hours after the performance with a light-hearted response. “S–t happens. Have a happy and healthy new year everybody! Here’s to making more headlines in 2017,” she wrote.
