It’s hard to imagine what it feels like to be a twin unless you have one. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen did a rare interview on Aug. 27, and they tried to explain to fans just how close their bond is when they described their relationship as “a marriage,” and talked about their closeness not just in their personal lives, but also in their business lives.

In a new interview with WSJ magazine, the duo revealed that they truly do “do everything together.” “It’s been 32 years of learning how to communicate,” said Ashley. And though they’re very good at it, they still have their trials. “[Our bond is like] a marriage and a partnership. We have had ups and downs.”

“We do everything together,” she added, while MK explained, “We came out of the womb doing that.”

Unsurprisingly, the pair has the same approach to business, which in their case includes their fashion lines, The Row and Elizabeth and James, which have already earned them four Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards.

“We’re not product pushers,” explained Ashley of their lowkey public personas. “I don’t know if it’s because of the way we grew up — we just don’t like talking about ourselves or talking about what we’re doing… It’s not really our approach.”

It’s exactly that private attitude that has made the Olsen twins so very interesting to fans. They were raised in the public eye, between Fuller House and their other movies and shows, but after their teen years, they withdrew, focused on their fashion, and now their families. We can’t wait to see what they cook up next!
