Ouch! Mexican soap opera star Eduardo Yáñez slapped a Univision reporter during a red carpet interview in LA on Tuesday, Oct. 10. Eduardo, 57, hit journalist Paco Fuentes after he asked the actor a personal question about his estranged son, Eduardo Jr., whom he shares with ex-wife Norma Adriana Garcia. Watch the heated moment go down in the video below!

Eduardo Jr. recently launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money after he got into a car accident, instead of asking his famous father for financial support — and Eduardo Sr. did not like that Paco asked about their current family dynamic. “If you’re so worried about my son, you send him the money or go and talk to him,” he shot back.

Paco — a correspondent for the Spanish-language entertainment news show El Gordo y La Flaca — defended his question after he saw that Eduardo was visibly upset, and argued that the Latin heartthrob’s fans were genuinely curious about the situation. “That’s bulls–t,” Eduardo fumed. “That’s what you say to get people involved in what they don’t care about. But the concerned one is you, brother. You go and tell [my son] what you have to say… You are a real a–. Do not disrespect me.”

Eduardo then struck Paco in the face before walking away from the interview. “I was in shock. I didn’t know what to do,” Paco told CBS Los Angeles after the violent display occurred. Eduardo has since apologized. “I want to ask for a sincere apology to the public and to the person affected by my action,” he said in a statement on Thursday, Oct. 12. “It was not right. My private life is not for sale.”

According to TMZ, Paco filed a police report with the LAPD, claiming assault and battery. The site reports that the investigation is not complete, and that Eduardo would face a minimum of six months in jail if he is convicted.
