She’s ready to open up about her painful split. On August 11, just one day after announcing her breakup from husband Liam Hemsworth, Miley Cyrus took to Instagram to wax poetic about change. “Don’t fight evolution, because you will never win,” she wrote alongside a photo standing atop a mountain in the Dolomites of Italy. “Like the mountain I am standing on top of, which was once underwater, connected with Africa, change is inevitable. The Dolomites were not created overnight, it was over millions of years that this magnificent beauty was formed.”

“My dad always told me ‘Nature never hurries but it is always on time’ … it fills my heart with peace and hope KNOWING that is true,” she continued. “I was taught to respect the planet and its process and I am committed to doing the same with my own … 💙”

Naturally, fans read between the lines in her post. “So this is about Liam?” one asked. Others called her an “unbothered queen” and “queen of reinvention,” for still enjoying her trip and staying strong amid the heartbreaking news and fan backlash, but others found the post to be insulting. “Very disappointed in you,” one follower wrote.

Sadly, Miley’s newest evolution does not seem to include her longtime love. After fans became suspicious that the couple was spending so much time apart, Miley was spotted kissing and cuddling Brody Jenner‘s ex Kaitlynn Carter on their Italian getaway. She confirmed fans’ worst fears on August 10, when her rep announced the split.

“Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” her rep told People. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.” We wish them both the very best in this difficult time.
