All the Heart-Melting Things Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton Said About Each Other Before Their Divorce

Before their divorce, country stars Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton were musical royalty — and they were head-over-heels for one another. In fact, their sweetest quotes prove it.

The former flames started dating in 2006 and got engaged four years later in 2010. Five years later, the singers announced their split. “This is not the future we envisioned. And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately,” Miranda and Blake said in their July 2015 divorce statement. “We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”

The Pistol Annies frontwoman opened up to Health in November 2019 about her breakup with the Voice star. “When everyone’s worried about your personal life, it makes you feel like, ‘Well, if you could just spend some of that time talking about my actual art, that would be great!'” Miranda told the outlet. “But I guess I asked for it, getting into this business. I’m never gonna get used to the public eye in that way.”

Rumors of cheating — which both Miranda and Blake denied — and difficulty with long-distance love reportedly brought the relationship to an end. However, the two country idols have developed a pretty amicable relationship since going their separate ways.

“Miranda and Blake aren’t burning up the phone lines just yet but her recent comments about writing together have definitely shifted things,” an insider told In Touch about the Wildcard artist’s March 2021 interview on Apple Music’s Essentials Radio during which she gave the Oklahoma native a shout-out while reflecting on cowriting his 2011 “Only You” track. “Blake thought it was a nice gesture.”

Blake has since moved on with No Doubt alum Gwen Stefani, to whom he got engaged in October 2020. Miranda is now married to former NYPD officer Brendan McLoughlin, whom she secretly wed in January 2019.

The New Yorker is all about his wife and her ex burying the hatchet. “Brendan was happy that Miranda put this olive branch out there,” a second insider told In Touch. “They’re still in the same business and will eventually run into each other again. He’d like it not to be awkward for any of them.”
