You go girl!
Whitney Thore, who first rose to fame with her viral Fat Girl Dancing YouTube videos last year, is the lively star of TLC’s new show My Big Fat Fabulous Life. And in last night’s episode, the 380-pound TV personality decided to shop for the perfect bathing suit.
As her friend explained, Whitney — who suffers from an endocrine disorder called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, which affects women's hormones and can cause unwanted weight gain — was preparing to visit the beach and wear a suit for the first time in nearly two decades.
“I have not really ever shown my legs, because they are really bumpy and cellulite-y and I don't really have knees anymore,” Whitney says about her body in the clip.
When she makes her big reveal in a tankini and shorts, her pal admits it’s the first time she’s seen her in a swimsuit.
“I have never seen Whitney in a bathing suit at all. I mean, I've seen Whitney naked, so I guess it's all relative,” the friend says.
Whitney, 30, tries on a second item, but isn’t exactly comfortable. Her biggest worry is feeling uncomfortable with all the material.
“I plan to be gallivanting,” she says about her upcoming beach day. “I just don't want to deal with this crap. I don't want to be the fat girl at the beach.”
Noticeably sweaty during her excursion, her friend tells the cameras, “Whitney's trying on these bathing suits, and I'm kind of hoping that whoever buys them next washes them, because she looks like she's already been in the pool. She's so sweaty.”
She adds, “But I guess if you haven't put on a bathing suit in 19 years, some work goes into it.”
Finally, Whitney finds the suit of her dreams — a black bikini!
“It just feels right. I don’t feel like I’m trying to cover myself up,” she proudly states. “In all the other ones, I feel like I'm minimizing myself. And when I put on the bikini, all that falls away. It's just, ‘Here I am. This is me right now. Take it, leave it, love it, whatever!’”
