Nearly 40 years after Natalie Wood’s tragic death, the late actress’ Splendour yacht captain, Dennis Davern, has shockingly revealed that he thinks Natalie’s husband Robert Wagner “murdered” the star in November 1981.

In a preview video exclusively obtained by Life & Style of Davern’s upcoming appearance on the Dr. Phil show, the captain — who was one of the last people to see Natalie alive — revealed he heard the West Side Story star and Robert “fighting” on the night she disappeared. Watch the Dr. Phil preview clip below!

“They were fighting. You could hear things being thrown around the stateroom,” he alleged in the preview clip. When host Dr. Phil then asked Davern, “Do you believe Robert Wagner murdered Natalie Wood?” he confidently replied, “Yes, I really do.”

After Natalie went missing, Davern alleged that Robert told him, “Wagner is telling us, ‘We have to get our story straight.'” The Splendour captain added, “I said, ‘We need to call for help.’ He said, ‘No, we’re not going to do that.'”

Davern also spoke out about Natalie’s death during a recent Fatal Voyage: The Mysterious Death of Natalie Wood podcast episode and, during his sit-down with host Dylan Howard, the captain revealed that Robert held him captive in his own home for months after Natalie’s disappearance. “It was just like I was in a prison,” he told Howard.
