We haven’t even learned who the next Bachelor will be yet, and people are already talking about who will be cast as the Bachelorette in 2019! That’s because Southern Charm star Kathryn Dennis seemingly hinted that it could be her on Aug. 1. 

“Would you ever consider being the @BacheloretteABC? That would be amazing!” said a fan on Twitter. Kathryn quickly responded, saying, “Actually I’m kind of in talks about it ?.” Naturally, everyone started freaking out. “Omg please make this happen,” said one fan. “I’d so watch that season – and I haven’t bothered for years now!” agreed another.

But how likely is it that Kathryn will truly be the next Bachelorette? Though there has been no statement from ABC, leads and contestants sign very strict non-disclosure agreements which prohibit them from talking about their casting status or anything to do with the show. If Kathryn were in serious talks, she would know better than to announce it on Twitter like that, especially since ABC loves to make a big surprise of the announcement, either on one of their after shows or Good Morning America. 

Plus, more often than not, one of the contestants from the previous season of Bachelor becomes the Bachelorette, and the new Bachelor hasn’t even been announced yet. The show likes to see which contestants fans react strongly to, like Becca Kufrin when Arie Luyendyk Jr. dumepd her for Lauren Burnham after proposing to her. Choosing someone outside of Bachelor Nation could be risky for the show, since fans not familiar with Southern Charm may not feel invested.

What little speculation there had previously been for the next Bachelorette, has mostly revolved around Tia Booth, who many expected to be the 2018 Bachelorette before Becca’s drama made her the obvious choice. Fans think that Tia’s multiple appearances on Bachelorette, plus going to Bachelor in Paradise with her ex Colton Underwood (who she still has feelings for) could make for the perfect storyline for next year. We’ll just have to wait and see!
