These guys know a thing or two about being The Bachelor! Former ABC reality show stars Nick Viall and Ben Higgins chatted about the new Bachelor Colton Underwood at the iHeartRadio Music Festival on Sept. 21, and they’re not convinced that he’s up to the job. As a matter of fact, the duo thinks Colton’s indecision will cause him to “struggle” as the lead of the show.

“I think we’re going to see him struggle,” said Ben to ET. “I think it’s going to be a very authentic journey of, like, struggling, success, failure, lot of tears. The problem is, he’s pretty indecisive.”

For his part, Nick thinks Colton’s inexperience in the dating world may lead to a lot of confusion and stress for him. “Colton, by his own admission, has mentioned that he’s got a very limited dating life,” he said. “I’m not specifically talking about his virginity and things like that, but just dating in general, and to Ben’s point, he does have to be decisive. I’ll be interested to see how that kind of plays out in the season.”

Ben admitted that he thinks the experience will “eat [Colton] alive,” but he also believes what may be hard for Colton might also make for amazing television for fans. “Colton really cares, so I think this might be the most authentic and genuine and transparent season that we’ve ever had, because I think he’s going to feel it.” And that’s coming from Ben, who cried often, told two girls he love them, and admits it “destroyed” him.

“It’s very difficult to be the Bachelor and go through that process,” Viall agreed, but he says it only gets harder when the cameras stop rolling. “It’s that much more difficult post-filming to try to, you know, protect that relationship and kind of go through some of the trials and tribulations that come with the show, the kind of outside influences and stresses that come with it, and again, it’ll be curious to see how Colton handles that with limited dating experience in general.”

“He may not be the most liked choice, but I think people are intrigued by him,” concluded Ben. We know we’ll definitely be tuning in in January to see if the guys are right!
