Nicki Minaj and Madonna Shared a Sweet Kiss Backstage at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards
From one queen to another! Nicki Minaj has been getting a lot of backlash for spreading hate towards fellow rapper Travis Scott and beefing with almost the entire cast of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop franchise, but she gave her Twitter fingers a break to enjoy herself at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards and she spent some time with someone who she isn’t beefing with — Madonna! Nicki took to her Instagram story to share clips of her sweet exchange with Madge and things got a little hot and heavy when Nicki showed her love for the Queen of Pop by kissing her on the mouth. Nicki and Madonna kind of go way back. The ladies first worked together in 2012 for two tracks off of Madonna’s album MDNA, and they recently worked together again on Madonna’s 2015 album Rebel Heart. They have always been friendly, and they even posed together for photos earlier this year at the annual Met Gala.
The “Chun-Li” rapper is also a huge fan of Madonna, and she gushed about what it was like to work with her idol in a 2012 interview with Complex — and at the time, she seemed to predict that she was destined for queendom just like Madonna because she compared her career to Madonna’s early years.
“I think that when she started, she was mentally where I am now. Feeling like, ‘if people would just leave me alone and let me do me, they’ll see the great things that I have to offer,'” Nicki said. “Right before I met her, I watched her documentary Truth or Dare, and because of that, I felt so connected to her when we got in the studio. Madonna’s the only humongous artist I ever worked with that actually sat with me in the studio.”
