WWE Star Nikki Bella Hopes ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Makes Her Career Even Bigger!
She’s trading in her WWE title for a Mirrorball trophy! Total Divas star Nikki Bella is heading to the dance floor as one of the contestants on Season 25 of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars.
“He will,” Nikki said on Good Morning America when asked if her pro partner Artem Chigvintsev had experienced her signature wrestling move, the Bella Buster. “I try to fight him every rehearsal.”
During last season of Total Divas, the longest-reigning WWE Divas champ revealed that she got the offer to join the cast of the popular dance competition series while on the set of a photo shoot for the cover of Muscle and Fitness with her twin sister, Brie Bella.
“Oh my gosh, look at the email I just got from Dancing With the Stars,” she told Brie. “Oh my god, that would be so awesome — I’ve always wanted to do ballroom dancing.” The 33-year-old beauty continued to gush in the confessional, adding, “I’m like really excited! I’m always thinking of how I can make my career bigger and Dancing With the Stars — it’s huge! It’s so mainstream.”
However, Nikki wasn’t sure she could join the cast. Since she’s been out of the WWE ring healing from her nearly career-ending neck injury, the pro wrestler was waiting to be drafted to either of the company’s brands — Monday Night Raw or Smackdown Live, both of which air live on Monday and Tuesday nights. If she was drafted to Raw, then it would conflict with the Dancing With The Stars schedule.
However, Nikki decided to take a break from the WWE while she competes on DWTS and plans her wedding to fellow pro wrestler John Cena, who proposed at Wrestlemania 33. “This isn’t goodbye, just need time to heal. When the day is right I will be back and hopefully then…. BRIE MODE will be ACTIVATED…” she tweeted. We’ll be cheering for #TeamSmackdown!
