This is just too tragic. Heartfelt tributes have been pouring in ever since Friday, Sept. 7, when news broke that rapper Mac Miller passed away at just 26 years old from an apparent drug overdose. His ex-girlfriend and writer, Nomi Leasure, has taken to Instagram twice since his untimely death to post a number of emotional tributes to her late love.

Most recently, the 27-year-old shared an intimate picture of the pair in bed. Captioning the snapshot “rest now,” with a moon emoji, many fans were deeply moved by the tender moment. “Nomi, I can’t imagine what you’re feeling. I just thought of you and want to say I’m so sorry,” one user wrote. “Thank you for sharing such a personal moment with us, Nomi. He was something special and loved you fiercely. I’m so sorry,” added another.

Nomi’s first response to Mac’s passing came on Sept. 8. “Wrote this nearly a week ago, about a person who forever changed my life. But in truth, no one could ever really know,” she wrote in the caption of a screenshot of a story she wrote about their last meeting together. In her story, published by Peek Magazine, Nomi shared the story about a meeting between her and Mac before his death.

“If you had seen him sitting there you’d have first noticed his bouncing knees — an anxious habit — that threw the ceiling lights off-kilter and caused an eerie pulsing of the bulbs,” Nomi wrote. “He was nervous, it was palpable. Perhaps something stronger than beer would be advised. Then again, likely not.”

She went on to explain that they had met to catch up with each other nearly two years after their split. “He had a lot to unload. A lot of untruths to untangle from the headlines. And she had always been a good listener,” she continued.

Nomi and Mac started dating when they were in high school and they dated until 2016, according to Heavy. Though Mac wouldn’t confirm it, many fans felt that he had written songs about Nomi on his 2013 mix-tape, Macadelic. Mac’s fans once again flooded Nomi’s comments with their condolences.

“This makes me cry. I’m happy you ended things on good terms. RIP Mac Miller,” one fan wrote, while another commented, “You were his foundation from the start. Don’t ever forget the love you both had. He flourished from that. Sending love and peace your way. Safe healing.”
