Brandon Buell and his wife Brittany have been overwhelmed by the support they've received since their son Jaxon was born with part of his skull missing a year ago. But criticism surrounding their decision to have him has forced the duo to speak out in defense of their son.
"There are so many things about Jaxon, our family, and his story that are completely misunderstood," Buell writes in a lengthy and moving Facebook post. "It's baffling to hear or see other people's opinions on our baby that have never met him."
He continues, "[People say] we are selfish parents for not choosing to have an abortion, and for having a Facebook and a Go Fund Me page for him."
But against all odds, Jaxon made it to his first birthday in August and is "talking up a storm," according to his parents. "[People with his condition] recognize their family, they learn to communicate, and Jaxon is certainly on his way in all of those aspects," Buell explains.
He adds that the couple never considered abortion after hearing that their child wasn't in pain or suffering. "We're proud of Jaxon for being so strong. We're proud of his story and that it has inspired so many people," Buell emotionally shares.
