From the moment that Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande got together, it’s been a wild ride. Between their speedy engagement, PDA-packed pictures, and countless tattoos in honor of each other’s love, there’s not a whole lot that this couple can do to surprise fans anymore — except, of course, call it quits! Unfortunately, that is exactly what fans suspected after Pete seemingly covered up one of his Ariana-themed tattoos. Question is, did he actually cover it up? Well, sort of.

According to TMZ, the SNL star was spotted on July 29 in LA sans his tattoo of Ariana’s trademark bunny mask. Naturally, after fans got ahold of this information they started speculating that the couple’s whirlwind romance ended as quickly as it began. “Uh, where did Pete’s bunny mask go?!” commented one fan on Twitter. “This radio guy said Pete Davidson removed his bunny ear ‘Dangerous Woman’ tattoo what’s goin’ on [over there]?” wrote another.

Turns out, however, that there’s a perfectly valid explanation for Pete’s tattoo-switcharoo. TMZ later confirmed that the 24-year-old has only temporarily disguised his ink for a movie role and that there’s “no trouble in paradise” for the couple. Phew! That was a close one.

To be fair, you can’t exactly blame us for worrying (OK, seriously panicking). It wouldn’t be the first time that Pete’s covered up a tattoo in honor of a loved one — or former loved one, that is. Just a few short weeks after he and Ariana got together, Pete was quick to cover up a tattoo of his ex-girlfriend, Cazzie David.

Here’s hoping that Pete has the decency to warn everyone next time he goes ahead and pulls a stunt like this! After all, if he and Ariana can’t make it what does that mean for the rest of us?! Sigh.
