You didn’t think you saw the last of the Pretty Little Liars when the series ended in June, did you? Lucky for us, Freeform has greenlit a spin-off of the hit teen drama called Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.

Based on the book The Perfectionists by PLL author Sara Shepard and developed for television by Marlene King, this new show won’t take place in Rosewood like its predecessor. Instead, we’ll explore the seemingly idyllic town of Beacon Heights.

“Everything about the town of Beacon Heights seems perfect, from their top-tier college to their overachieving residents,” Freeform says in a press release. “But nothing in Beacon Heights is as it appears to be. The stress of needing to be perfect leads to the town’s first murder. Behind every Perfectionist is a secret, a lie, and a needed alibi.”

“At Freeform, we are committed to delivering shows that push boundaries and become a part of our viewers’ lives,” explains Karey Burke, the network’s executive vice president of programming and development. “Pretty Little Liars was a cultural phenomenon, so it’s no wonder fans wanted more. We can’t wait to continue Marlene King’s rich and revolutionary storytelling with a new crop of leading ladies from Beacon Heights who will hold just as many secrets and lies as Rosewood did.”

One member of that “new crop of leading ladies” is Ava, a “beautiful, trendsetting blogger and coder who strives to be a fashion icon,” Entertainment Weekly reports. She’ll be played by Sofia Carson of Disney Channel’s Descendants.

The Perfectionists stars won’t all be new faces, though. Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish will reprise their PLL roles, playing Alison DiLaurentis — the show’s original “dead” girl — and Mona — the show’s original “A” — respectively.

Janel and Sasha.

“I’m beyond excited to continue my collaboration with Sara Shepard, Alloy, Freeform, and [production company] Warner Horizon,” Marlene King says in the press release. “I can’t wait to introduce our fans — and Sasha and Janel — to a new world of thrills and chills in Beacon Heights.”

With all this intel, though, one mystery still remains: Freeform hasn’t announced when The Perfectionists will premiere. Maybe they’re waiting to get every detail just right.
