In honor of Prince Louis‘ first birthday on Tuesday, April 23, Kensington Palace has officially released the birthday portraits of one of the U.K.’s youngest royals. The adorable 12-month-old looked cuter than ever as he showed off his infectious smile while posing for the professional pics.

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to share these new photographs of Prince Louis ahead of his first birthday tomorrow,” Kensington Palace’s Instagram caption reads. “The photographs were taken earlier this month by The Duchess at their home in Norfolk.”

In the snaps, the youngest child of Prince William and Kate Middleton proved that time is flying by way too fast. He looked like a little mini-me of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge! Louis — who is fifth in line for the throne — donned a couple of different ensembles while showing off his heartwarming personality in the annual birthday snaps.

In one of the pics, the brother of Prince George, 5, and Princess Charlotte, 3, showed off the few teeth he has as he smiled big for the camera. The little prince wore a cute burgundy sweater on top of a white collared shirt and tied the look together with black dress pants.

The portraits show Louis as he poses in a field of grass surrounded by the beautiful nature. In another pic, the great-grandson of Queen Elizabeth looked super adorable while glaring his serious mug into the camera. Louis also sported the cutest blue sweater which featured an image of a dog sewn into its fabric. The adorable crew neck was paired with a white button-up underneath and dress pants. So sweet!

While taking birthday portraits is an annual tradition for the royal family, Kate, 37, and William, 36, will be celebrating Louis’ birthday a little differently this year. Since his siblings, George and Charlotte, are headed back to school on his actual birthday, many fans of the British royals assume that the family may have already celebrated the little tot’s milestone, Cosmopolitan reported.

Just last week, Kate, William and their brood were spotted enjoying a day off in Norfolk with their cousins, Zara Tindall, Mike Tindall and their two daughters, Mia Grace, 5, and Lena Elizabeth, 10 months. The two families met at the Burnham horse trials — which is not far in proximity to Kate and Will’s country home at Anmer Hall — and spent the day having fun in the sun. Since William is also set to arrive in New Zealand on April 25 for a royal engagement, royal admirers suggested that the family may have also celebrated Louis’ birthday on Easter Sunday.

It’s a party-filled time for the royal family, who just celebrated Queen Elizabeth’s 93rd birthday and will be celebrating Charlotte’s 4th birthday on May 2! How exciting!
