Ryan Phillippe Explains What Went Wrong With Reese Witherspoon — Admits He’s Not a “Hollywood Bad Boy”
Ryan Phillippe once referred to his divorce from Reese Witherspoon as “the darkest, saddest” time of his life, but now, nearly eight years since they went their separate ways, he’s opening up about what went wrong.
“We got together so young. I think it can create issues — two people in this industry — because there’s so much noise that goes around with it,” he told Larry King while appearing on ‘Larry King Live.’

The ‘Secrets & Lies’ star also conveniently left out the rumors of his alleged cheating scandal with his ‘Stop-Loss’ costar, Abbie Cornish, which is said to be what finalized the end of his marriage.

But despite the speculations, the 40-year-old admits he’s not exactly perceived the way he’d like to be.
When asked about his “Hollywood bad boy” reputation, he replied, “This is something that comes up with relative frequency and I’m not sure where it comes from. But I’m a pretty regular dude. There’s not a lot of time to be a Hollywood bad boy.”
Ryan and Reese married in 1999 and welcomed two children together, Ava, 15, and Deacon, 11. They finalized their divorce in October of 2007 and remain on good terms for their children. Ryan has been dating his girlfriend for four years while Reese married Jim Toth in 2011.
