Two NYPD police officers were shot to death yesterday while sitting in their car in the Brooklyn area around 3 p.m. The families of both Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos are grieving terribly, especially with the holidays right around the corner.

“Today is the worst day of my life,” Rafael’s 13-year-old son Jaden Ramos wrote on Facebook yesterday. “Today I had to say bye to my father. He was there for me everyday of my life, he was the best father I could ask for. It’s horrible that someone gets shot dead just for being a police officer.”

The heartbroken child continued to mourn the loss of his 40-year-old father and received an overwhelming amount of support from friends and family on the social media site.

“He loved you so much, always remember that. God will give you strength,” one commenter wrote.

Yankee owner George Steinbrenner, who died in 2010, created the Yankee Silver Shield Foundation which pays for the education of the children of NYPD police officers. The foundation has offered to cover the expenses for Jaden’s education.

“Everyone says they hate cops but they are the people that they call for help. I will always love you and I will never forget you,” he added. “RIP Dad.”

Absolutely heartbreaking.
