Taylor Swift must've known Conor Kennedy was trouble when they split in 2012!
The singer's ex was arrested in the early hours of Dec. 29 after getting into a fight outside of a nightclub in Aspen, CO. The grandson of Robert F. Kennedy was charged with disorderly conduct after he allegedly punched a man repeatedly.
The 22-year-old’s father, Robert Kennedy Jr., spoke out about the incident, telling the Aspen Times that his son was defending a gay friend who had been called a homophobic slur. “Conor has always reacted against bullying. I’m happy he stood up for his friend,” he said, adding that Conor initially asked the men responsible to apologize before the altercation turned physical.

Though one of the men reportedly apologized, two others allegedly called the friend more names, starting the fight. “I’m very sorry it turned into a police incident. [Conor’s] not liking the attention,” Robert revealed. A statement from Conor’s attorneys also claims he “rebuked” a couple of men using a “homophobic slur and threats to [his] close friend.”
Assistant Police Chief Bill Linn told the paper, “We are aware of some of those allegations, and we are following up on them this evening. At the moment, there have been no allegations of additional crimes given by witnesses or those involved in the incident.”
Conor’s court appearance is set for Feb. 22. According to multiple reports, he has not entered a plea.
The New York native first made headlines four years ago when he began dating pop star Taylor in July 2012. Although the duo’s relationship only lasted until September of that year, they were frequently photographed in Hyannis Port, MA, where the blonde beauty allegedly bought a mansion near the famous Kennedy compound. Taylor recently split from actor Tom Hiddleston after a three-month romance.
