Best friends forever! Taylor Swift is a fan of Selena Gomez’s new songs “Lose You to Love Me” and “Look at Her Now” — which both happen to reference her former boyfriend Justin Bieber. “Taylor Swift is a huge supporter of Selena, and the shade she threw at Justin has made her proud,” an insider told Us Weekly. So much so, the 29-year-old blonde beauty uploaded a sweet message after “Lose You to Love Me” was released on Wednesday, October 23. “This song is a perfect expression of healing and my absolute favorite song she’s put out yet,” Taylor said. “A triumph. I love you so much, @selenagomez.”

However, the 27-year-old brunette bombshell wasn’t trying to be rude to her ex, a source exclusively told In Touch. “Selena didn’t mean for the song to be shady, but songwriting to her is a part of her therapy,” they explained. “So, she had to put it down on paper and release it. That’s part of her process, and it works for her.”

She does appreciate her BFF’s support, though. On Monday, October 28, she shared a selfie with the blonde beauty to her Instagram story. “My ride or die,” she captioned the shot. “I would die for this one.” Speaking directly to Taylor, she added, “Thank you for forever being by my side. You have taught me so much, walked through all of this with me, STAYED and you remind me to be a better human being. I’m on your side for life.”

The Texas native and the 25-year-old pop star first sparked romance rumors in 2009. The two broke up and reunited a couple of times over the years, but in November 2017, they started spending time together again. Ultimately, Justin ended up reconnecting with Hailey Baldwin, 22, at an event in Miami after splitting from Selena for the last time. “I just gave him a hug. By the end of the conference, he was like, ‘We’re not going to be friends.’ I was like, ‘We’re not?’” she told Vogue. One month later, Justin was engaged to the model in July 2018.

In “Lose You to Love Me,” Selena sings, “I gave my all, and they know it / You turned me down, and now it’s showing / In two months, you replaced us / Like it was easy / Made me think I deserved it / In the thick of healing, yeah.” Of course, fans couldn’t help but point out the fact that Justin moved on with Hailey two months later.

After Selena dropped the emotional tune, fans thought Hailey responded by revealing she was listening to a song called “I’ll Kill You” by Summer Walker. Ultimately, Hailey shut down those theories. “Please stop with this nonsense. There is no ‘response.’ This is just complete BS,” she wrote in a now-deleted comment on Instagram, which was captured by Just Jared.

Selena, for her part, wanted to clear the air about all of these rumors. “I do not stand for women tearing women down,” she stated. “And I will never, ever be by that. So, please be kind to everyone. It doesn’t matter what the situation is. If you’re my fans, don’t be rude to anybody, please.”

Selena also revealed what her songwriting process is like. “My intentions are never evil,” she said during an interview with Zach Sang on October 25. “I always want to come from a place that’s genuine. When I feel like some things haven’t been said, then I get to turn that into art. … The most important part was that the world got to hear it, and hopefully, relate to it and know that they’re not alone because this feeling that everyone goes through in life is so real, and you just get destroyed.”
