Do We Know You? The Weeknd Looks Hella Different Following Split From Bella Hadid

Can we have some ID, please? The Weeknd sported a new look at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival on Monday, September 9, after splitting from Bella Hadid. We almost didn’t recognize him without his signature haircut and facial hair.

Fans were quick to notice that the 29-year-old (real name Abel Tesfaye) didn’t quite look like himself. “He look [sic] like Lionel Richie had a baby with El DeBarge,” one fan tweeted, while another wrote, “The Weeknd? Nah it’s el Fin De Semana.” The banter continued with fans poking fun at his name writing, “This is definitely [the] Monday, not The Weeknd,” and others adding that he looks like Jack Black in Nacho Libre and Cleveland from Family Guy.

The singer’s red carpet appearance debuted not only his new look but also his new life as a single man. In Touch confirmed that  The Weeknd split from on-again off-again girlfriend Bella, 22, back in early August. “[They] split due to trust issues and living so far apart,” an insider told In Touch.

The famous duo started dating back in 2015 at Coachella but broke up in November 2016. During their time apart, the “Can’t Feel My Face” singer dated Selena Gomez for 10 months in 2017. The model and The Weeknd found their way back to each other in April 2018 and moved in together later that year.

Although they shared a home, a source disclosed to E! News that they had not “spent quality time together months.” The insider added, “They are in different places right now, physically and mentally. … Bella is prepping for her fashion week commitments and Abel is working on his music and his upcoming acting debut.”

Only time will tell if this couple will rekindle, once again. But as history shows, they are bound to run back to each other sooner than later.
