A Look Back at Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen’s Love Story From a Blind Date to Now

It just wasn’t meant to beTom Brady and Gisele Bündchen tied the knot in February 2009 and weathered many ups and downs before announcing their divorce in October 2022. They share two children, in addition to Tom’s son from a previous relationship.

Despite looking like the perfect couple, there were rumblings of tension between Tom and Gisele after the quarterback decided to un-retire from the NFL in April, just 40 days after announcing he was stepping back from his career. He continued to raise eyebrows when he took 11 days off of training in August for personal reasons.

This wasn’t the first time Tom’s career seemingly caused a rift between them. The athlete revealed he and Gisele attended couples counseling because “she didn’t feel like I was doing my part for the family.”

“She felt like I would play football all season and she would take care of the house, and then all of a sudden when the season ended, I’d be like, ‘Great, let me get into all of my other business activities. Let me get into my football training,'” he said in August 2020. “She’s sitting there going, ‘Well when are you going to do things for the house? When are you going to take the kids to school and do that?'”

However, Gisele later clarified that her and Tom’s divorce wasn’t “black and white,” slamming the “hurtful” rumors that their marriage ended because of his athletic career.

“If there’s one person I want to be the happiest in the world, it’s him, believe me,” she told Vanity Fair in March 2023. “I want him to achieve and to conquer. … I want all his dreams to come true.”

Previously, a source told Life & Style in January 2019 that Tom and Gisele were “more in love than ever.”

“They are such a strong family unit and feel like they are best friends, partners and each other’s biggest support systems,” the insider said at the time. “They have created the perfect life together.”

Surprisingly, the A-list pair met during a blind date. “It was in December of 2006. I thank him to this day,” the quarterback said about his pal who set them up during an interview with Howard Stern in April 2020. “I had gotten out of a relationship and she had been out of a long-term relationship that she had, so when we met, I wasn’t quite sure if I was ready for a relationship. I didn’t think I was.”

Tom continued, “But we met and hit it off. When she walked in, I just thought she was the most beautiful woman I’ve seen in my life.”

Their relationship quickly became complicated when the California native learned his ex Bridget Moynahan was pregnant with his first child.

“I think that was a very … We were forced into this very important thing that was happening in our life at a new point in our relationship,” Tom explained. “I found out a lot about Gisele through this experience and she found out a lot about me dealing with a situation that was, I would say, not a very easy one.”

His and Bridget’s son, John “Jack” Edward Thomas Moynahan, was born in 2007. “I think we all made the best of that situation,” the dad of three added. “Fortunately, he’s the most amazing son … My son Jack, my heart explodes when I think of him. He’s the greatest kid you can ever ask for.”

They were the sweetest blended family with Tom and Gisele’s kids — son Ben, who was born in 2009, followed by Vivian Lake in 2012. “She is a loving wife that tries to nurture the kids, the family and me, and she wants to take good care of me,” Tom gushed about the former Victoria’s Secret angel.
