It’s been a very tragic time for the cast of Fast & Furious 7 as they come to terms with the loss of one of the franchise’s stars, Paul Walker.
When the 40-year-old lost his life in a November car crash, production shut down in early December.
Now Paul’s close friend and co-star Tyrese Gibson — who plays Roman in the flick — has opened up about how “none” of the cast members will ever be the same person they were before tragedy struck on Nov. 30.
“This is the only movie I ever worked on where we are all real close even after the movie is over,” he said. “It wasn’t just losing a co-star, he was family for real. That’s why it took so long to recover.”
Tyrese, who says they'll never “recover” from the death, revealed the cast and crew will honor Paul before filming starts.
“God’s grace is all we have,” he told TooFab. “Before we start filming we are going to have a strong prayer. That will be the start, before we film anything. That’s what is needed for us to do Fast & Furious 7.”
Vin Diesel, another close pal and co-star, recently mirrored Tyrese’s sentiments, explaining it’s been very difficult to return to set without Paul around.
“The transition into that Dom state of mind has always been an interesting one… only this time there is added purpose, a collective goal to make this the best one in the series,” he wrote on Facebook. “The long awaited completion of Seven begins…”
As of now, it’s unclear how Universal plans to handle the storyline for Paul’s character, Brian O’Connor, though, according to reports, there are no intentions of “killing him off.”
Other reports have emerged with plans to have his younger brother, Cody, step in, while most recent claims insist his face and voice will be recreated using CGI. Fast & Furious 7 is set to hit theaters April 2015.
Paul’s death has been especially hard on his family. He reportedly left his $16 million estate to his only child, daughter Meadow [pictured above], and requested his mother, Cheryl, file for guardianship if he were to ever pass away.
She has followed through with his wish much to the dismay of the 15-year-old’s mother, Rebecca Soteros, an ex-girlfriend of Paul’s.
In new court documents, Cheryl claims Rebecca cannot properly raise Meadow because she is an alcoholic.
The young girl and her mother are reportedly “disgusted” by the move.
“This has been hard on everyone close to them. [Meadow and her mom] didn’t know,” an insider tells E! News.
“There have been discussions but no one told them they were going ahead with it. They first heard about it when they saw it on TMZ. They are very disgusted by this. It’s completely thoughtless and disrespectful.”
