Wentworth Miller revealed a dark secret on Monday after a meme highlighting his past weight gain hit the Internet.
In a lengthy Facebook post, the Prison Break star shared that after his stint on the hit drama came to an end in 2009, he turned to food to cope with suicidal thoughts.
"Today I found myself the subject of an Internet meme. Not for the first time. This one, however, stands out from the rest," he wrote. "In 2010, semi-retired from acting, I was keeping a low-profile for a number of reasons. First and foremost, I was suicidal."

The meme, posted to LAD Bible's Facebook page, features side-by-side photos of the actor: one a promotional, shirtless shot from the Fox series and the other, a photo of him in a red t-shirt sporting a heavier frame. The caption reads, "When you break out of prison and find out about McDonald's monopoly…"
Though the photo was taken years ago in LA, Wentworth admitted that it brings him back to the "lowest point" in his adult life and that "it hurt to breathe" when he first saw it.

"Now, when I see that image of me in my red t-shirt, a rare smile on my face, I am reminded of my struggle," he continued. "My endurance and my perseverance in the face of all kinds of demons. Some within. Some without. Like a dandelion up through the pavement, I persist."
The 43-year-old also included several links to organizations that focus on suicide prevention and depression.
LAD Bible has since deleted the photo and apologized to Wentworth in a statement on Facebook. "We posted two pictures of you last night to our Facebook page, but today we want to say we’ve got this very, very wrong. Mental health is no joke or laughing matter," the site wrote.
