Ruby Rose Is Recovering From Spinal Surgery Like a Champ After Years of Back Issues
Action star Ruby Rose will be out of commission for a while as she recovers from spinal surgery. The XXX actress had fans worried something happened to her after she posed in a wheelchair and with her cane on social media — but she quickly reassured her fans everything was alright.
“So… for the past few years (decade) I’ve been dealing with a spine issue,” she wrote. “I am now recovering from a back procedure, but I do need to stay active, so before I get seen with my cane and wheelchair in public, I’d rather put it out there that I’m fine and going to be fine.”

The 31-year-old also thanked her girlfriend, The Veronicas singer Jessica Origliasso, for taking care of her following the procedure. “Behind every strong female lead is another strong female lead,” she captioned a photo of the couple. There was one additional benefit to the surgery: Ruby was forced to give up cigarettes. “On the plus side guess who had to quit smoking !!!!! YAY!!!! I’m done ! I’m finally done… that filthy, smelly, dirty, slowly killing you while you pay for it to suffocate you, is finally out of my life,” she added. “I quit yesterday. And for my back (and Mum) I’ll never start again.”
This is not the first time fans have expressed concern for Ruby. Last year, it was reported that the brunette beauty might have an eating disorder after stepping out on the red carpet looking way too skinny. “Her family and management team need to encourage her to gain some weight before it’s too late,” LA-based dietitian Lisa De Fazio told NW magazine before adding that it appeared she weighed less than 100 pounds.
Ruby, who is very open about her vegan lifestyle, spoke out against the allegations — and denied she had any problems with her weight. “Body shamers, I had a great work out this morn[ing], thanks for asking, and am off to eat a vegan burger because why the F not,” she wrote.
In the meantime, Ruby is looking for distractions while she heals. “What I need to know now is when I’m not wheeling around LA like a 102-year-old, what movies, shows, books and video games do you suggest,” she jokingly asked. “I’m buying a switch… I’m looking at you @chrissyteigen what games should I get?” Get well soon!
