After two years of dating Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson, Cazzie David is no longer feeling loyal. The couple recently broke up, prompting Cazzie to take a two-week hiatus from Instagram. But during her social media break, it was confirmed that Pete, 24, is now in a relationship with singer Ariana Grande, 24, and she addressed it in a super shady Instagram caption.
"Been in Africa, what'd I miss??" the writer and actress captioned the Instagram pic. Many fans interpreted the caption as Cazzie shading Ari and Pete's newfound romance, especially because it garnered the attention of several big names in Hollywood who seemed to establish their allegiance to Cazz.
"You're Amal," actress and comedian Amy Schumer on the pic, according to People. Amy's comment is, no doubt, reference to Amal Clooney. Lorde had something to say on the 'Gram, too. "You're so hot omg," the 21-year-old pop star wrote.
In mid-May, Pete confirmed that he and Cazzie had called it quits after two years together. "We're not together anymore," Pete told People. "She'll be great and she'll be fine," he added. Pete went on to call his ex-girlfriend a "very talented girl."
Cazzie is the daughter of Larry David, the 70-year-old writer, television producer, and genius behind Seinfeld. Cazzie is also the creator of the Amazon comedy Half-Empty, has appeared on the TV series Hannah Montana, and is credited with writing the mini-series Eighty-Sixed.
Cazzie and Pete were together as recent as May 3 — the last time they appeared on social media together. Cazzie supported Pete as he threw a 50th birthday party in his late father's honor. Pete's father was a firefighter who passed away in the terrorist attacks on 9/11.
A week after announcing his breakup, Pete was spotted with Ariana Grande at the World Famous Comedy Store in Los Angeles. The "No More Tears to Cry" songstress was there supporting Pete during his standup comedy set, according to Page Six. Ari too is fresh off a breakup with rapper Mac Miller, which was also announced earlier this month. She dated 26-year-old Mac from 2016 to 2018 before calling it quits earlier in May.
Soon after Ariana and Mac's demise was announced, the rapper was arrested on a charge of DUI and totaled his Mercedes G-Wagon, which prompted Ariana to get defensive about her role in Mac's sobriety.
"How absurd you minimize female self-respect and self-worth by saying someone should stay in a toxic relationship because he wrote an album about them, which BTW isn't the case (just Cinderella is ab [sic] me)," Ariana responded to a fan on Twitter who blamed her for Mac Miller's accident. "I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be. I have cared for him and tried to support his sobriety [and] prayed for his balance for years (and always will of course) but shaming/blaming women for a man's inability to keep his s--t together is a very major problem."
Ariana and Pete took their relationship to Instagram, making their romance IG-official, just two weeks after Pete announced he was no longer dating Cazzie and three weeks after Ariana split from Mac. "I thought you into my life," the "One Last Time" singer captioned the picture. "Woah! Look at my mind," she added.
