Well, love officially died this weekend. And you can blame that on Chris Pratt and Anna Faris, who have decided to call it quits after eight years of marriage. The beloved celebrity couple took to Instagram on Sunday, Aug. 6, to reveal the sad news — and, obvi, we are devastated. First of all, why did they break up?
According to the joint statement they revealed via Anna’s Instagram, the pair had been making a strong attempt to preserve their marriage for quite some time. Unfortunately, Anna and Chris’ efforts didn’t pay off and they made the decision to end it.

“We are sad to announce we are legally separating. We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake, we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward,” Anna’s post read. “We still love each other and we will always cherish our time together.”
Do they have children?
As their statement noted, Anna, 40, and Chris, 38, are looking out for their four-year-old son, Jack, as they figure out the details of their impending divorce. The couple welcomed Jack in August 2012 and quickly settled into parenthood.
During a 2013 interview with Us Weekly, Anna couldn’t help but gush over Chris’ special connection with their son. “Chris is an amazing dad. He really is. He feeds the baby almost every morning so I can sleep in,” the Mom actress said at the time. “It’s very sexy to watch him be a dad!”

When did they meet?
Chris and Anna — who had no idea they grew up just 20 minutes apart from each other in Washington state — first met each other on the 2007 set of their film Take Me Home Tonight. At the time, Anna was married to actor Ben Indra, whom she wed in 2004 and divorced in 2008.
When did they get engaged?
Just one year after Anna ended her marriage to Ben, Chris asked the House Bunny star to be his wife. Anna recently opened up about the Parks and Recreation alum’s proposal during the June 26 episode of her Unqualified podcast.
“I think I knew for, like, seven months. Finally he asked me on my birthday,” she said, adding that she couldn’t even feign surprise when he eventually got down on one knee. “I confessed. Because he was like, ‘You knew this was coming.’”

When did they get married?
The couple eloped in Bali on July 9, 2009. “We aren’t going to involve family at all,” Anna said ahead of their small, intimate ceremony. Though they kept it together for nearly a decade, the comedienne admitted in December 2016 that she and Chris’ relationship hit a rough patch when they were forced to face rumors of trouble in paradise.
“For the first time, maybe a year ago or 10 months ago, we were in the public a little bit. There were some tabloid rumors about strain on our relationship. I just remember feeling so hurt in a way that bothered me because I didn’t want to think of myself as somebody that could be affected by tabloid s–t,” she explained on her podcast. “It did make me feel like, ‘Is public perception – even though it’s false – is there a grain of something?’ It made me feel incredibly insecure.”
