Everything We Know About ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3: Cast, Location, Premiere Date
The White Lotus season 3 shaping up to be epic. With new details about the tropical setting, who has been cast and if any stars from former seasons will be returning, showrunner Mike White promises it will be “supersized.”
What Is the Plot of ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3?
“It’s going to be longer, bigger, crazier. I don’t know what people will think, but I am super excited, so at least for my own barometer, that’s a good thing … I’m super excited about the content of the season,” Mike gushed to Entertainment Weekly in November 2023, as he was finishing writing scripts for the season.
While Mike was secretive about plot details, he said during a making of season 2 video in 2022, “The first season we highlighted money and then the second season is sex and I think the third season, it would be maybe a kind of satirical and funny look at death in Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.”
Where Will ‘The White Lotus’ Take Place in Season 3?
Season 1 took place in Hawaii, while season 2 saw a new set of characters vacation in Sicily. In October 2022, Mike hinted that Asia could be the next location and HBO confirmed in January 2024 that Thailand will be home to season 3, with filming taking place starting in February 2024 in Bangkok, Phuket and Ko Samui.
Bloomberg later reported that the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui and Anantara Mai Khao Villas Phuket would be the resorts featured in The White Lotus.
Who Is in ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 Cast?
Actress Parker Posey confirmed she was headed to Thailand as part of the cast.
“I can’t tell you anything. I signed an NDA. I can’t say anything. I’ll be six months in Thailand,” Parker told Entertainment Tonight on January 31, 2024. “It’s the third [season], so that’s when they get all the juices going, I guess. I got to read it. I love it. I’m really excited,” she said about the scripts for the season.
The rest of the cast will be made up of newcomers to the series. In addition to Parker, HBO has confirmed that Michelle Monaghan, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Walton Goggins, Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, Jason Isaacs, Tayme Thapthimthong, Sarah Catherine Hook, Sam Nivola, Carrie Coon and Aimee Lou Wood have been cast for season 3.
Will Cast Members From Previous Seasons of ‘The White Lotus’ Return?
The only returning actor confirmed so far is Natasha Rothwell, who played spa manager Belinda Lindsey in season 1.
“I can’t say anything. I literally can’t. I will say, I’ve read all of the scripts and people are in for a treat. It’s bigger than ever. Buckle up,” Natasha told Entertainment Tonight in December 2023.
Sadly, Jennifer Coolidge‘s Tanya McQuoid, who appeared in season 1, was killed off at the end of season 24
When Will Season 3 of ‘The White Lotus’ Premiere?
An official premiere date for season 3 of The White Lotus hasn’t been revealed, although filming gets underway in early 2024 with an anticipated debut on Max in 2025.
