Once tipping the scales at 980 pounds, life looked bleak for the "World's Fattest Man," Paul Mason.
But five years later — and 650 pounds lighter thanks to bariatric surgery — the 54-year-old has not only shed over two-thirds of his body weight, but he's also found love!

Rebecca Mountain first met Mason following his surgery, but before he had more than 50 pounds of excess skin removed. The 42-year-old says she initially reached out to him in 2013 via Facebook to see how she could help after being moved by his story.
"We developed a level of comfort instantly, talking about our goals and common interests, and things quickly got romantic," Mountain explained to Cosmo of the duo's time emailing and Skyping.

"While a lot of people pick their partners based on looks and hope they like that person when the initial physical attraction wears off, we did things the opposite way, and our emotional attraction led to a physical attraction," she added.
And unlike a majority of couples, Mountain popped the question to Mason during an appearance on The View in January 2014. Of her decision to propose on national television, Mountain revealed, "I wanted Paul to be able to experience that love publicly — to show people that different-looking people can fall in love."

A year-and-a-half later, the couple are still engaged and living together. But Mason still has more skin-removal surgeries ahead. "I'm here as his partner and his fiancée and friend to support him in whatever way he needs," Mountain shared. "I just feel lucky to have him and support him."
