He was all smiles as he made his way into The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday, but it was his ill-fitting brown suit and skinnier-than-ever frame that had viewers talking. He appeared on the talk show to promote his upcoming Netflix movie, War Machine but he’s a far cry from the army general he portrays in the movie.
“I haven’t been out in a while. It feels good, feels good,” Pitt joked on the show.
The 53-year-old actor’s weight has been an ongoing issue since his divorce was announced, and sources are revealing that his frail frame is due to stress.
Brad arrived at an art studio looking, “his skinniest ever,” an eyewitness told In Touch. “He’s been working on an art piece there as a way to deal with the stress in his life.”
The father-of-six also revealed he is no longer drinking and replaced alcohol with matcha tea and cranberry juice in his new interview with GQ.
“I was boozing too much,” he said. “It’s just become a problem. And I’m really happy it’s been half a year now, which is bittersweet, but I’ve got my feelings in my fingertips again. I think that’s part of the human challenge: You either deny them all of your life or you answer them and evolve.”
Fans were startled to see the actor looking extremely skinny at a Malibu charity event on Saturday, Jan. 14. Even though the father-of-six’s weight loss was noticeable during his surprise appearance at the Golden Globes a week earlier, he looked even frailer while hanging with singers Sting and Chris Cornell. It’s believed that his divorce from Angelina Jolie has taken quite a toll on him both mentally and physically.

But the transformation didn’t stop Brad from hopping on stage throughout the course of the evening, which was put on by jeweler Alex and Ani as well as the Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation. The 53-year-old introduced Chris’ performance, calling him a “very, very good friend… someone I’ve known for quite a while and that I’m a huge fan of.” Other celebrities at the event included Zach Galifianakis, Courteney Cox, and Heidi Klum.
After announcing his split from Angelina in September, the Oscar winner made his first public appearance in early November at a screening for the critically-acclaimed film Moonlight. He later thanked fans at the premiere of his movie Allied. “It’s really sweet, everyone has been really kind out here. It’s really nice to have all the support,” he said after taking selfies with the assembled crowd.
And the audience at the Golden Globes was certainly Team Brad when he stepped out to introduce a clip, clapping loudly for the Missouri native.
In his initial statement following news of the separation, the Ocean’s Eleven star said, “I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”
