Kristin Cavallari is now happily married with three kids of her own, but the 29-year-old's romance with husband Jay Cutler had a rocky start.

In an upcoming appearance on the Steve Harvey Show, the Hills alum chats about breaking off their first engagement and why therapy was necessary for their relationship.

"We got engaged after eight months and broke up about two-and-a-half or three months later, called off the engagement, and then we got back together," the celebrity mom explains. "And when we got back together, I kind of went through a little phase where I didn't know if I wanted to get married."

Kristin reveals her ego almost got in the way of their future. "I had one foot in and one foot out and that was ridiculous, and if we were going to be together and really give it a shot, that wasn't fair. So I decided to grow up I guess," the blonde beauty admits.

The author has been open about her and Jay's decision to go to therapy because she wants people to know that "there's no such thing as a perfect relationship."

"We work on it," she tells Steve. "But we love each other and want to make it work. I 100% credit our therapist for saving our relationship."
