It's love lost for The Bachelorette's Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez, but Chris Harrison, the host of the hit ABC series, doesn't believe reality TV is to blame for this breakup.
"I'm sorry for Ali and Roberto, but I'm old enough and wise enough to know that these things happen," Chris tells Life & Style, "It's not the show, and it's not TV, it's life."
In fact, the hopeless optimist says fans should be poised to fall in love all over again when The Bachelor returns in January with Ben Flajnik. "He's everything you'd want in a Bachelor as far as his sincerity," Chris tells Life & Style about Ben, a Sonoma, Calif., winemaker who had his heart broken last season by Bachelorette Ashley Hebert.
But will Ali & Roberto film a tell-all breakup special like The Bachelor's Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi did?
"I'd sit down with Ali and Roberto, but I don't know what good it would do," Chris tells Life & Style. "It's kind of like when someone says, 'Why did you get divorced?' It's never really that black-and-white, and I don't know what either one of them could offer or say that would really satisfy anybody."
Now Chris has his hands full hosting You Deserve It, a trivia game that pits contestants in a competition for up $250,000 - but for a deserving beneficiary, not themselves. "It's kind of like Extreme Home Makeover meets a game show," Chris says about the new series, which airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on ABC. "It's a feel-good show."
