It was the perfect day for the Michigan native — née Jennifer Hutcheson — who had been battling cancer for five years.
But just one month after the nuptials on Aug. 4, her battle sadly came to an end.
“Anyone who knows her will say that her smile lights up a room, or their day. There is a certain kind of radiance about the way she smiles that lets you see the joy within her,” her husband said.
Jennifer had two goals she wanted to achieve: to make it to her 30th birthday and see her wedding day. She accomplished both.
Despite being exhausted from various treatments, a smile never left her face on the day she made it official with her boyfriend of nine years.
And when the beauty made her way down the aisle in her wheelchair, Allen was at a loss for words.
“My breath was taken away and my eyes welled up,” Allen told The Flint Journal via e-mail. “I hadn’t seen a sight more beautiful in my entire life.”

The pair began dating when she was 21 and he was 40. Life changed drastically for the couple when Jennifer turned 25. That was the year doctors found a tumor in her esophagus and diagnosed her with esophageal cancer.

Allen stayed by her side throughout it all and on July 6, they wed in a beautiful ceremony.
It’s a day he and their loved ones will never forget.
