Derek Peth Proposes to Taylor Nolan on ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Finale
Wedding bells will be ringing soon in Bachelor Nation! After experiencing a whirlwind romance on the Bachelor/Bachelorette spin-off Bachelor in Paradise, couple Derek Peth and Taylor Nolan are engaged!
Derek, 30, proposed to Taylor, 24, on the finale of the reality dating competition — and gave her a coveted Neil Lane sparkler. “Taylor, you are so intelligent, emotionally and intellectually. You have such a big heart and you’re so stunningly beautiful. Is she beautiful?” Derek said on stage before getting down on one knee in front of the studio audience. “I’ve been searching my whole life for my equal… Early on in our relationship I literally built a fire for you and figuratively you’ve since lit a fire in my heart. I choose to love you this minute, this hour and this day and promise to love you every day from here on out.”
He continued, “Taylor Catherine Nolan, you make me the happiest man on this planet. Will you marry me?” A visibly shaken Taylor responded yes through tears before the cast erupted into cheers. Congrats to the happy couple!
After multiple reports claimed that Derek proposed to Taylor during the filming for the BiP after show, the pair were spotted out celebrating their engagement with a handful of their castmates. Taylor used the album feature on Instagram to share a series of photos taken at the party, and she wrote “family” in the caption. Taylor partied with some of her besties from the Season 4 cast — Raven Gates, Jasmine Good, Alexis Waters and Dominique Alexis. Some of Derek’s bros were also in attendance — DeMario Jackson and Adam Gottschalk were also there to celebrate.
Taylor and Nolan had one of the cutest love stories on BiP. They immediately hit it off when they first arrived in paradise and their connection was still strong when they returned after the sexual misconduct scandal between Corinne Olympios and DeMario Jackson shut down production.
When filmed resumed, Taylor and Derek went on their first date and it was clear that sparks were flying. “If things keep going with Derek the way that they’ve been going, there’s a possibility for love,” she told the cameras in her confessional. “Derek is boyfriend material and I’m ready to see where things go with him moving forward.”
Two of Taylor and Derek’s castmates exclusively chatted with Life & Style and they both predicted that they would be most likely to follow in Carly Waddell and Evan Bass’ footsteps — the couple met, got engaged, and later tied the knot in paradise after meeting last season.
“I definitely see Derek and Taylor getting engaged,” Christen Whitney, 25, told Life & Style, and her co-star Adam Gottschalk agreed with her prediction. “From early on, you could tell there was something between the two of them. They seem to be going pretty strong.”
