300,000 Fans Demand Netflix Release ‘Stranger Things’ Cut Scenes From Season 5
Stranger Things fans are louder than ever — and they want answers.
More than 300,000 viewers have signed a Change.org petition asking Netflix to release alleged “cut scenes” from the fifth and final season of the hit sci-fi series. The petition, created by user Wenni J, claims fans didn’t get the full story after waiting nearly a decade for the show’s conclusion.
“We want the unseen footage of Stranger Things. I believe it was more to the episodes and we didn’t see them either due to Netflix or the team of Stranger Things cutting them. This has been a long 10 years process and this is what we get,” Wenni J wrote. “Everyone is clearly dissatisfied with this season. And also the amount of clues and information we got from the cast members and interviews are not matching up with the episodes provided. We want Stranger Things to have a legacy not be seen as some show that couldn’t pull though due to it bad writing.”
Season 5 rolled out in three parts over the holidays — Vol. 1 debuted on Thanksgiving, Vol. 2 dropped on Christmas Day, and Vol. 3, a feature-length finale, arrives Wednesday. But while fans expected answers, many instead walked away with even more questions, sparking rumors that major scenes were removed before release.
Amid the growing frustration, Stranger Things actor Randy Havens, who plays Hawkins teacher Mr. Clarke, stepped in to shut down the conspiracy theories — and comparisons to Zack Snyder’s Justice League saga.
“There’s no secret Snyder cut of the show,” Havens wrote on Instagram Stories. “Please don’t believe everything some random a** tells you on the internet.”
The Snyder reference stems from the online movement that pushed Warner Bros. to release the original cut of Justice League, which finally dropped in 2021 after years of fan pressure. But unlike that situation, there’s been no confirmed evidence that Stranger Things faced similar behind-the-scenes drama or that major storylines were removed.
Still, fans are convinced something’s missing — and point to unverified IMDb runtimes that listed earlier, longer episode lengths. Others claim cryptic cast interviews suggested deeper plotlines that didn’t end up onscreen.
Whether the missing scenes truly exist or fans are simply disappointed with the pacing of the season, the petition shows how passionate the fandom remains as the show nears its end. And with one final volume left, viewers are hoping their lingering questions — and theories — finally get the closure they’ve been waiting for.
