Oh Abby, Abby, Abby. Dance Moms star Abby Lee Miller somehow finds a way to make almost everything controversial, even announcing her release from the halfway house after serving her year sentence for bankruptcy fraud! On May 25 she took to Instagram to let her fans know that she's finally a free woman, but the quote she used from Martin Luther King Jr. totally eclipsed her happy news. Watch the video above to see why fans are so upset.

Abby has been excitedly counting down to this moment on Instagram for the past five days. On May 21 she photoshopped her face onto an astronaut and wrote, "Blast off!!! Get ready for the countdown… I’ve got five to survive #5daystogo #freeabbylee." The days in between were all silly and light-hearted, but the day of her release rubbed fans the wrong way. While some thought her "inappropriate" quote overshadowed her exciting news, others were confused as to what the news actually was.

Not long after moving from a halfway house from prison, Abby was diagnosed with cancer. Fans were devastated to learn how ill she was, even suffering from temporary paralysis and undergoing major surgery. Most of her recent posts have been from the hospital, so when fans saw that she was "free," they thought something else had happened. "So are you in remission, or just out of the hospital?" asked a supporter. "So no more cancer?" questioned another. Many thought she may have finished chemo as well, but other fans were quick to point out that she was talking about serving her sentence.

While Abby no longer has to live in a halfway house, she isn't all the way "free" yet. She still has two years of probation, and if she does anything else wrong in that time she will head back to the clink.
