Ansel Elgort is best known for his role as Gus in The Fault in Our Stars — but there is more to the actor than meets the eye.

Along with acting, Ansel is also a world famous DJ who goes by the stage name Ansolo.

"My favorite thing to do is just to sit and work on music on my computer," he told Rolling Stone. "If I'm shooting a movie, there's so much downtime on set. If I'm in a different state or country with people I don't really know that well and everyone is tired from working, I go home and make music."

Shailene Woodley was a fan of the book before she was cast as Hazel!

The star of the film was such as fan of Hazel that she begged author John Green for the role — before casting even began.

“Before I got Fault In Our Stars, I wrote [John] a pretty lengthy email just sort of saying, ‘I’m obsessed with you and your book and I would do anything to be a part of it. Please let me audition for you,’” she told HuffPost Live

Nat Wolff wore special contact lenses while portraying teen Isaac.

"I didn't want to have to fake being blind if I didn't have to, so I put these two contacts into my eyes that made it so I really was blind — they were completely black," he told the Hollywood Reporter. "Once I went blind, I always had blackout contacts and black glasses so no one could see my eyes."

The scene inside Anne Frank's house was actually filmed in Pittsburgh.

The crew and cast of the movie were only allowed two hours of access in the house's first-floor entrance and outside entranceway.

The upstairs rooms were off-limits, which meant the house needed to be recreated on a soundstage and a large part of the film's $12 milion art direction budget was devoted to that project.

"When I finally realized I have to live life for myself and not for anyone else is when I started being more generous and kind and grateful. I was able to give back more," she said. "Doing the right thing always makes you feel good, and it's contagious."

Ansel Elgort is also a professional DJ.

Along with starring in blockbusters films, Ansel is also a world famous DJ, known by his stage name Ansolo.

"I was in school for acting. Obviously, I've had such amazing success, and I've been so lucky to do so well in that," he told Rolling Stone magazine. "But I was always making music. It's something I loved doing since I was 12. Now I've come this far in music."

John Green was inspired by his friend and cancer victim Esther Earl.

The author dedicated the novel to the 16-year-old girl who he met at a Harry Potter fan conference before she passed away of thyroid cancer.

"Esther inspired the story in the sense that my anger after her death pushed me to write constantly," he wrote. "She helped me to imagine teenagers as more empathetic than I’d given them credit for, and her charm and snark inspired the novel, too, but the character of Hazel is very different from Esther, and Hazel’s story is not Esther’s."
