“After years of silence, Casey Anthony has once again pointed to her father as a suspect in the disappearance and death of his granddaughter Caylee,” George's attorney, Mark Lippman, said in a statement to Inside Edition. “[He] was vindicated on multiple occasions, [and he] is once again forced to relive the hints, rumors, lies, and allegations. At that point, Caylee had been missing for 31 days. Six months after Cindy’s call, the little girl's remains were found in a wooded area near the family's home.

Throughout the trial, the defense team — which was led by lawyer Jose Baez — alleged that Caylee had drowned in the family’s swimming pool and that George had hid her body. This was never proven to be true and George was never charged with a crime.
