Ariana Grande Remains Best Friends With Mac Miller Following Split
She pickin’ it up, pickin’ it up. Ariana Grande and her boyfriend Mac Miller have split after two years together. However, the former couple still remain good friends. According to TMZ, Ariana and Mac decided to break up because of their busy schedules but still “love each other dearly.”
Ariana confirmed that report — calling Mac “one of her best friends in the whole world” in a touching tribute to her ex on Instagram. “I respect and adore him endlessly and am grateful to have him in my life in any form, at all times regardless of how our relationship changes or what the universe holds for each of us,” she wrote. “Unconditional love is not selfish. It is wanting the best for that person even if at the moment it’s not you. I can’t wait to know and support you forever and I’m so proud of you.” Does that mean Mac is the one who called it quits?
Whatever the case, the split comes as a huge surprise to fans. Just last month, Mac (real name: Malcolm McCormick) was congratulating the former Nickelodeon star for the release of her latest single, “No Tears Left to Cry” on social media. “Very proud of this girl right here,” he tweeted. “Welcome back. We missed you. One of a kind.” Ariana and Mac were last photographed together in March, after they were spotted leaving Madonna’s Oscars afterparty holding hands.
The pair started dating in 2016, three years after they collaborated on their hit single “The Way.” Shortly after going official, Mac gushed about his “dream woman” in a radio interview. “Just because we are two people who are in love and have a great relationship doesn’t mean that I’m gonna get weird about this incredible music that we also make together,” Mac told the Breakfast Club. “All I’m saying is, ‘Yeah we’re together, cool.”
Mac was also by Ariana’s side following the aftermath of the Manchester bombing at her concert last May. The rapper canceled two shows to be with his girlfriend during the difficult time. “Broken. From the bottom of my heart, I am so so sorry. I don’t have words,” Ariana wrote at the time. Mac also made a guest appearance at her One Love benefit concert, where she gushed, “Tonight is all about love, am I right?”
Ariana is now focused on her upcoming album Sweetener, which is set for release July 20. “The Ariana Grande stuff is pretty amazing,” Pharrell told the LA Times about her new music. “The things that she has to say on this album, it’s pretty next-level. Her album is amazing.” Before Mac, Ariana dated her backup dancer Ricky Alvarez, rapper Big Sean, and YouTuber Jai Brooks.
