Actors Bill Hader and Ali Wong Reportedly Break Up After Almost Three Years Together

After dating for over two years, Bill Hader and Ali Wong have ended their relationship.

A source told People that their busy schedules and family obligations made it difficult to maintain the romance. “It was too challenging to make the relationship work with Ali’s upcoming stand-up tour and Bill’s various film and TV projects this year,” the insider said.

Now, the source adds, “They’re focusing on their work and kids, while continuing to support and root for each other.” Despite the split, things remain “very amicable” with Hader and Wong staying friends and in regular contact.

Speculation about the couple’s relationship surfaced early last year, when Wong did not walk the red carpet with Hader or mention him in her acceptance speech at the 2025 Golden Globes.

At the time, a representative for Hader told People the couple was still together and explained that Hader had missed the event due to a health issue.

After meeting in 2016, while working on The Angry Birds Movie, Wong and Hader didn’t get together until years later.

People previously confirmed in April 2023 that Hader and Wong, who had a brief relationship in the fall of 2022, rekindled their romance after Wong’s separation from ex-husband Justin Hakuta, which was finalized in May 2024.

Wong and Hakuta first announced their split in April 2022 after eight years of marriage. A source told People at the time that the divorce was “amicable and they will continue to co-parent lovingly.”

However, Wong did not officially file for divorce until December 2023, and the divorce was finalized in May 2024.

In her Netflix special Ali Wong: Single Lady, released in October 2024, Wong spoke about her public divorce.

“Divorce gets a really bad reputation and it can sound really scary and full of acrimony,” she said. “But then just look at me as an alternate example of how it can be: I’m best friends with my ex-husband.”

“I need him desperately, and I need to respect him,” she added.

Wong also revealed that Hader reached out to her after learning about her divorce. After getting her number from a mutual friend, he reportedly texted that he had a crush on her “forever” and asked her to be his girlfriend.

Wong then shared that Hader even sent her flowers while she was traveling in Europe. “I did fall in love again,” she said during the special. “Some of you might know who the guy is. And it just so happens to be the man who sent me all of those flowers in Europe.”

Wong is set to return to the stage for her live tour starting in Houston, Texas on January 16. The tour will end in the spring of 2026.
