Fans Accuse Chris Randone of “Gaslighting” Tia Booth on ‘Bachelor in Paradise,’ and They Want Him OUT

Bachelor in Paradise fans see some super unhealthy dating behavior coming from Chris Randone. 

Now they’re accusing him of “gaslighting” Tia Booth during last week’s episode. If you’re not familiar, “gaslighting” is “an elaborate and insidious technique of deception and psychological manipulation,” according to Encyclopedia Britannica. “Its effect is to gradually undermine the victim’s confidence in his own ability to distinguish truth from falsehood.”

Fans believe this is what Chris was doing to Tia, when he told her he “would not accept a date card” from anyone else, and then kissed Krystal Nielsen hours later. 

When Tia called out Chris for misleading her, especially after he had dogged Colton Underwood for being similarly indecisive, he basically played it off like kissing someone wasn’t the same as going on a date. “I still like you, Tia,” he told her, “I know what I want.”

Moments later, Krystal herself joined the conversation, and he turned from “knowing what he wants” to “exploring his options,” suddenly blaming Tia for his actions because she was “talking to Colton.” 

Finally, Krystal says, “I just know that I would like to get to know you, if you’re available.” Chris doesn’t respond, so Tia says she’s “taking herself out” from the triangle. Chris goes “that’s fine I mean I had already made the decision.” “You’d already made what decision?” asks Tia. “Like… that that was the case. I was pulling myself out of this.”

“When did that happen?” Tia questions, keep in mind that moments earlier he said he still wanted to be with her. “I mean, before this talk even took place,” he responds while Tia looks flabbergasted. Chris also said “Thank god” when Tia said told Krystal she wasn’t “exploring with Chris anymore.” Yikes. 

So now Tia is out, but Krystal is still in. She’s so excited to have this moment with Chris… but he totally blew her off and left her in tears. 

Fans are still mad about the shocking manipulation, and they want Chris OUT. “I know I’m really late to this but @ChrisRandone gaslighting @tiarachel91 on BIP was so f–king absurd and I think he should have to leave!!!!! Chris is an abuser!!!!!!” said one fan on Twitter. 

Plenty more agreed. One said, “If anyone is unclear what gaslighting is, watch Chris and Tia’s conversation at the beginning of last night’s Bachelor in Paradise. That boy is gaslighting Tia TO THE EXTREME. DROP ?? HIM ?? #bacheloreinparadise.” Another wrote, “Wow Chris is straight up gaslighting Tia! Treating her like she’s crazy and making stuff up. He is so disturbing to watch.  #BachelorInParadise.” 

Now we just need to wait and see if Krystal sees the danger and sends him home, or keeps him around!
