Xtina, Is That You? We’re Literally So Confused by Christina Aguilera’s Latest Instagram
Is this her latest reinvention? Christina Aguilera posted — then quickly deleted — an Instagram selfie on Nov. 10, and we can’t get over how dramatically different she looks! The 36-year-old mother-of-two looked more like a 2007 high school scene kid or pre-breakdown Amanda Bynes while rocking choppy blonde bangs, a dramatic black smokey eye, and a supersized pout. Watch the video below to see her wild new look — which some fans believe is the result of plastic surgery.
Unfortunately, many fans weren’t vibing on the look, and the backlash got pretty savage. “What the actual f–k did #ChristinaAguilera do to her face?!! She looks [like] a blow up doll of Lindsay Lohan!” wrote one bewildered Twitter user. “Wow Christina Aguilera looks different,” said another. Others agreed, saying, “She looks like Kesha, OMG” and “Here’s hoping Christina Aguilera’s new album is as big a creative departure as her new face is!”
Of course, the speculation that she got lip fillers was swift. “Please don’t use lip fillers they don’t look good and you don’t need it babe,” said one supporter, and another agreed, saying, “Don’t do anything to your face, you already look beautiful and you don’t need that nonsense.”

Meanwhile, Xtina’s “Fighters” were furious at the backlash, and immediately defended their queen. “Christina does not deserve your rude comments!” began a passionate fan. “She is against bullying, This is wrong. You are wrong. It was so heartbreaking to see all the comments on Christina’s latest post.” Meanwhile, others actually thought she looked “better than ever!”
Fans also couldn’t help but focus on Christina’s lips during her tribute to the late Whitney Houston at the 2017 American Music Awards on Sunday, Nov. 19. The pop star — and her seemingly fuller lips — took center stage to belt a medley of hits from Whitney’s iconic film, The Bodyguard, in honor of its 25th anniversary. Despite the “Beautiful” singer’s powerhouse vocals, social media had more to say about her nearly unrecognizable face.
“OMG POOR XTINA! Girl what did you do to your face??” one fan asked, while another wrote, “Agh! Christina Aguilera’s lips at the #AMAs! She definitely didn’t need any of that.” Another Christina enthusiast suggested that they believe the blonde beauty is ruining her naturally stunning looks: “Christina is the last person on the planet who needs plastic surgery. I wish she’d calm down with all the fillers and injections.”

Christina has never talked about getting plastic surgery, but she has opened up about her changing looks over the years. “I’m proud of myself that I had the courage to experiment with crazy hairstyles and some fashion things,” she told Elle. “Would I do it again? No. But that’s part of the learning process and getting from point A to point B.” For years she settled on her old Hollywood glam look, but it seems like now she’s shaking it up again.
“It’s important to embrace the things you might define as so-called imperfections— because something that you might call an imperfection, someone else might find so amazing and so beautiful,” she explained. “It’s all in how you embrace yourself, your faults, and your mistakes in life. There’s no better way to learn and become a better person than to go through those moments.” Since Xtina is all about embracing your imperfections, maybe her puffy lips are just from using a plumping gloss or weird camera angle. Either way, we can’t wait to see more of her!
