Colin Egglesfield sure has the looks to play Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey, but Jamie Dornan beat him out for the role.

"I think Jaime is a great choice. I think he's got an edge to him and he's a good looking guy," Colin told Life & Style exclusively at the Lucky Brand Store opening in Beverly Hills this week. "He's going to do a really good job."

Though Colin lost out to him, he's not disappointed about it.

"It's a tough thing because you never really know how that is going to turn out. I haven't read the books, but I know pretty much the whole thing is what it is and what it is going to be," The Client List star explained. "I am sure there are a lot of very talented people attached to it, so I am sure they're going to do a great job with it."

In fact, he's a little relieved that he won't portray the character, who's a 27-year-old billionaire with a secret fetish for all things BDSM.

"I just know my mom would have a hard time watching that movie if I was in it and a lot of my friends would, too," Colin told Life & Style. "I would never hear the end of it from my friends knowing that I had to use a writing prop, handcuffs and all that stuff in front of millions of people."

Variety revealed that Jamie landed the role on Oct. 23 – nearly two weeks after Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam dropped out of the part due to his "immersive TV schedule."

Author E.L. James confirmed the news on Twitter.

The film also stars Dakota Johnson, who will play Christian's counterpart, Anastasia Steele, Jennifer Ehle, set to portray Ana's mother, and Luke Grimes, who will star as Christian's brother, Elliot.
