How Courteney Cox Met New Boyfriend Johnny McDaid
Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid may have been dating since December, but Life & Style can exclusively reveal how it all began!
During the Just Before I Go premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on Thursday night, the producer of the film, Gabriel Cowan, who is close friends with Courteney's ex-husband, David Arquette, tells the mag how the couple originally met.
“They didn't meet on set, but they did meet through this film. I think the first time they met was at the very first test screening, which was however many months ago,” Cowan tells Life & Style. “You know, he saw the movie and was like, ‘I need to be with the director!’”

The director of the film just happened to be Cougar Town star, Courteney, herself.
“David and Johnny get along great. Johnny is centered, he is humble, he's present, he's super talented,” Cowan adds. “…with Johnny's music and his twist on things and them [Courteney and Johnny] collaborating, it was really fun to watch.”
Johnny, a musician in the alternative rock band Snow Patrol, helped write three original songs in the film – and also helped entertain the director, whom he calls “the most completely talented person” he’s ever met!
“We got to kiss between takes!” the couple tells Life & Style at the premiere about the best part of working together.

Johnny has basically been Courteney’s rock through the film-making process—supporting the 49-year-old actress “creatively and emotionally.”
“She gets music, she gets art, she understands the way a scene is constructed, how dialogue works and she puts it all together in her mind and explains it to the world,” the musician, 37, gushes about his girlfriend, “and makes me laugh and squirm and jump.”
