Is Trisha Paytas Running For Congress? The Social Media Star Seemingly Soft Launches Political Career with TikTok Video
Is Trisha Paytas entering her politician era? The longtime internet personality raised eyebrows after posting a TikTok that appeared to hint at a potential run for Congress in California — and she sounded surprisingly serious about it.
In a video shared on January 5, 2026, Trisha revealed she had been researching what it would actually take to run for office. “Currently Googling how to run for Congress in California 2026 and it takes me to like this PDF requirements, fees,” she began. “It looks like I have to get as a write-in candidate between February 9th through March 6th. I need to get the documents from election officials, get 40 to 60 signatures. And any candidate can get signatures. I wonder if I can get e-signatures. Can I do it online? Do I have to go person to person?”
While the video initially felt casual — even comedic — Trisha made it clear the idea wasn’t random. “The idea of me being a representative for the state of California came to me in a dream, in a vision, if you will. It’s so vivid to me,” she said.
The influencer went on to explain that motherhood has fundamentally changed how she views the world — and her responsibility within it. “I like so many people are just like watching the world just crumble little by little, but I’m not giving up hope,” she shared. “I’m a mother with three kids and I really have a generation alpha and a generation beta and they really need a better world.”
Trisha added that she often finds herself overwhelmed by current events, but instead of tuning out, she’s trying to channel that anxiety into action. “I never thought of myself as a political person until I started having kids and realizing like the world could be just so disastrous, dystopian for real by the time they get to be adults,” she said. “So I was like, all right, Trish. Enough just like shutting it out, being ignorant.”
She even hinted at potential policy goals, revealing one issue she feels particularly strongly about. “My main goal is to make it adult work, not be legal until you’re 25. That’s one. But I have so many other agendas,” she explained, adding that she imagines herself bringing a bill directly to Capitol Hill.
Trisha also acknowledged the logistical reality of such a move — including the tight timeline. “Because March 6th is the cutoff for signatures and I need to get on it,” she noted, adding that her large online following could potentially help. “I have a good social following, so. It’s like my demographic too.”
“I’m gonna start with my state. And I really think my slogan for running will just be like, California could be good. It could be good,” she said. “Any advice on this, let me know. I’m literally just Googling, but that’s where it starts. It starts with a Google.”
Trisha is no stranger to reinvention. An OG YouTuber, she’s built a career as a model, actress, singer, author and Broadway star — often leaning into controversy and satire. In recent years, however, her content has shifted toward family life with husband Moses Hacmon and their three children: Malibu Barbie, Elvis and Aquaman Moses.
