Jack Schlossberg Honors Late Sister Tatiana Schlossberg in Emotional Instagram Post

Jack Schlossberg is speaking out for the first time following the heartbreaking death of his sister, Tatiana Schlossberg.

On Monday, January 5, the 32-year-old son of former U.S. Ambassador Caroline Kennedy shared a tribute to Tatiana on Instagram. The post featured a mix of inspirational quotes, including words from Tatiana herself:

“Essentially, what I’m describing is hard work with possibly limited success for the rest of your life. But we have to do it, and at least we will have the satisfaction of knowing we made things better.”

Jack also shared quotes from their grandfather, former president John F. Kennedy, as well as literary and philosophical figures like Herman Melville, Alfred Lord Tennyson, Buddha, Abraham Lincoln and Robert Frost. The final slide in the post was a touching throwback photo of the siblings together.

News of Tatiana’s passing broke at the end of December 2025. She was 35 years old. The JFK Library Foundation shared the news on Instagram on December 30, saying, “Our beautiful Tatiana passed away this morning. She will always be in our hearts.” The statement was signed by Tatiana’s husband George Moran, their children Edwin, 3, and Josephine, 19, as well as her parents Caroline Kennedy and Edwin Schlossberg, and her siblings Jack and Rose Schlossberg.

Tatiana had publicly revealed her cancer diagnosis just a month prior. In an essay for The New Yorker, she disclosed she was battling acute myeloid leukemia and had been given a year to live. “I did not — could not — believe that they were talking about me. I had swum a mile in the pool the day before, nine months pregnant. I wasn’t sick. I didn’t feel sick. I was actually one of the healthiest people I knew,” she wrote, reflecting on the shock of her diagnosis and the newborn she was caring for alongside her son.

Her essay highlighted the unwavering support of her family, including her siblings. “[My family has] held my hand unflinchingly while I have suffered, trying not to show their pain and sadness in order to protect me from it. This has been a great gift, even though I feel their pain every day,” she wrote. She also revealed that her sister Rose donated stem cells, while Jack was a half-match and “still asked every doctor if maybe a half-match was better, just in case.”

Following her death, the Kennedy family shared heartfelt tributes. “I cannot make sense of this. I cannot make any sense of it at all. None. Zero,” wrote Tatiana’s cousin Maria Shriver on Instagram. “Tatiana was a great journalist, and she used her words to educate others about the earth and how to save it. She created a beautiful life with her extraordinary husband George, and children Eddie and Josie. She fought like a warrior. She was valiant, strong [and] courageous.”

Earlier on Monday, the family held a private funeral at The Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola in New York City. Alongside the service, the JFK Library Foundation shared a never-before-seen photo of Tatiana with her loved ones, captioned, “As we remember Tatiana and celebrate her life, our hearts are with her family and all who loved her.”

A Yale and Oxford graduate, Tatiana was deeply connected to her family legacy and focused on making a meaningful impact as an environmental journalist. In her essay, she reflected on her life, writing, “For my whole life, I have tried to be good, to be a good student and a good sister and a good daughter, and to protect my mother and never make her upset or angry…Now I have added a new tragedy to her life, to our family’s life, and there’s nothing I can do to stop it.”

Even in her final months, Tatiana cherished her family. “George would go home to put our kids to bed and come back to bring me dinner. I know that not everyone can be married to a doctor, but, if you can, it’s a very good idea. He is perfect, and I feel so cheated and so sad that I don’t get to keep living the wonderful life I had with this kind, funny, handsome genius I managed to find,” she wrote.
