Actress Jaime King has startled many people with image she posted on her Instagram account earlier today.
The photo shows a very frail Jamie, who was 16 at the time, lying on a bed, wearing shredded clothes, as she’s surrounded by posters of musicians Jerry Garcia, Kurt Cobain, and Sid Vicious — individuals who lost their lives to drug addiction.
Taken by her late boyfriend, photographer Davide Sorrenti, the pic caused controversy for its promotion of “heroin chic,” which was a trend in the early 90s. Think Kate Moss during her Calvin Klein era.
The Hart of Dixie star hinted at that time in her caption. She wrote: “Oh Davide, we got into so much trouble with this picture. At least we know the depth of what we were capturing. #lostart #thislifeisprecious.”
Davide unfortunately passed away in 1997 from a kidney ailment, which allegedly stemmed from his excessive heroin use.
At the time, he was dating Jaime who had been the subject of a cover story in The New York Times, in which she admitted she had began using drugs when she started modeling at the young age of 14.
Jaime, 35, is no stranger to causing a bit of eyebrow raising. In early June, the blonde beauty walked the streets of NYC sporting an alarmingly thin body.
Around the same time, she also posted a controversial photo of herself breastfeeding son James, 8-months-old at the time.
But she did that purposely to send a message: “Breastfeeding should not be taboo- and bottle feeding should not be judged- it's ALL fun for the whole family:)”
