That’s the way love goes.
“Sadly, Janet and Wissam have decided that it wasn’t working and to go their separate ways,” a source revealed to The Mail on Sunday. “They’re both busy people but determined to be good parents, even if they’re apart. It’s amicable and Eissa will stay with his mother, who is basing herself in London.”
Janet — the sister of late pop icon Michael Jackson — announced that she was postponing her the second leg of her Unbreakable World Tour last April so that she could focus on starting a family with her hubby.
“We’re in the second leg of the tour and there actually has been a sudden change,” the singer said in a video message at the time. “I thought it was important that you’d be the first to know — my husband and I are planning our family, so I’m going to have to delay the tour.”
At 50 years old, Janet gave birth to her first child — a baby boy named Eissa Al Mana. Since his birth in January, she has kept a low profile and when she has been seen in public, she was spotted wearing head coverings and modest clothing — which fueled rumors that she had converted to Islam in 2012 when she secretly wed her 42-year-old billionaire husband. The couple met in December 2009 after she performed a concert in the Middle East.
This will be the “Rhythm Nation” singer’s third divorce. Her first marriage was an elopement with R&B singer James DeBarge in 1984 and was later annulled the following year. Before tying the knot with Wissam, she was married to Mexican backup dancer René Elizondo for nine years before their 2000 divorce.
