Jim Carrey is fighting back against a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the husband of his ex-girlfriend, Cathriona White, who committed suicide a year ago.

Mark Burton is accusing the actor of providing prescription drugs, including Ambien and oxycodone, to Cathriona under the alias Arthur King — medicine which she later used to overdose.

In response to the accusations, Jim, 54, said in a statement, “What a terrible shame. It would be easy for me to get in a back room with this man’s lawyer and make this go away, but there are some moments in life when you have to stand up and defend your honor against the evil in this world.”

The Bruce Almighty star added, “I will not tolerate this heartless attempt to exploit me or the woman I loved. I really hope that some day soon people will stop trying to profit from this and let her rest in peace.”

Cathriona, who was 30 at the time of her death, married Mark in 2013 following her split from Jim a year earlier. However, the makeup artist was seen with her famous ex in May 2015 after allegedly separating from her spouse.

Our thoughts are with her family as they continue to mourn her passing.
