Gone, but not forgotten. World-famous fashion designer Max Azria has reportedly died at 70 years old. The founder of BCBGMAXAZRIA and former designer for Herve Leger is survived by his six children — Michael, Chloe, Marine, Agnes, Anais and Joyce — and wife of 27 years, Lubov Azria.

Max passed away after a battle with lung cancer on Monday, May 6, in a Houston hospital, according to multiple outlets. Throughout the duration of his notable career, he dressed major celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and many more.

Shortly after news broke, several A-listers and media personnel flocked to social media to share kind words about Max. “We lost a legend today. RIP, Max Azria. May his memory always be a blessing,” HelloGiggles co-founder Rivka Sophia Rossi wrote on Twitter.

“The world has lost another gentle giant and legend, @MaxAzria. He was not just a visionary, he was also the patriarch of one the most amazing families I have been privileged enough to know. My love and condolences go out to beautiful @LubovAzria and the entire Azria family,” added songwriter and producer Donnie Demers.

Fans also chimed in with their special memories of the BCBGMAXAZRIA brand. “I wore a BCBG x Max Azria dress on my 25th birthday. RIP,” someone wrote. “Wearing one of my many BCBG blazers today. RIP, Max Azria,” echoed another.

At this time, Max’s family has yet to provide a comment on his passing. However, it’s clear that people all over the world are mourning his immense loss.

The fashion industry has faced several deaths in 2019, including longtime creative director of Chanel and Fendi, Karl Lagerfeld. Karl, too, passed away from cancer.

Our condolences go out to fans, friends and the entire Azria family during this difficult time. We will continue to honor his legacy and admire his unparalleled talent.
